A PERSPECTIVE IN LEADERSHIP AND CHANGE
This session offers a perspective on how organizational leadership roles have evolved over the past century. It examines what experts like Senge, Kouzes and Posner, Kotter, and Covey have to say about leadership and change. Participants will explore issues around managing vs. leading, contributing experiences and perceptions as issues are addressed. Discussion will then focus on how participants can lead within their organization.
Outcomes:
Understand current thinking on leadership and change
Assess tendency towards managing and leading. Determine how to create a balance between the two
Develop a personal action plan for leading
LEADER AS COACH/DEVELOPER
Just as Research and Development (R&D) is essential for maintaining competitive products and services, coaching and developing of people becomes the leader's focal point for leveraging an organization's human resources. In this session, participants will learn successful coaching techniques to maximize job performance, enhance results on tasks and projects, and increase employee satisfaction.
Outcomes:
Understand the role of leader/coach/developer
Learn specific coaching techniques and how to apply them within a department
RECOGNIZING, UNDERSTANDING AND SHARING DIMENSIONS OF LEADERSHIP
Leaders come in many varieties, ranging from charismatic visionaries to unassuming team players helping peers work together in accomplishing goals set by others. Most leaders display several leadership characteristics or "dimensions of leadership." With the aide of the Dimensions of Leadership assessment tool, participants pinpoint their individual approach to leadership while developing insight into alternative leadership approaches. Participants will determine how likely they are to identify and make use of leadership opportunities.
Outcomes:
Understand how to contribute to your organization as a leader
Recognize the contributions of other potential leadership approaches
Identify leadership characteristics needed at different times and in different situations
ROLE OF LEADER IN INNOVATION
The most significant barrier to innovation is the natural tendency to think and behave in a certain way. In effect, we become the greatest obstacle to innovation by clinging to long held, personal paradigms and assumptions. A leader must develop personal and organizational competencies in the area of innovation to drive organizational competitiveness and profitability. This session explores innovation from a personal, organizational and team perspective. An assessment tool provides a personalized interpretation of natural innovation tendencies.

Recognize barriers to the innovation process
Develop strategies to help you work on an innovation team in creating, refining, advancing and implementing new ideas
Identify your approach to innovation
LEADING SELF: IMPACT OF YOUR PERSONAL LEADERSHIP STYLE
Assessing leadership effectiveness starts with a focus on personal behavior styles. This session includes a self-assessment to identify specific behavioral characteristics. Participants will explore how his/her behavioral style impacts others, effects relationships and performance.
Outcomes:
Respect, appreciate and value individual differences
Understand potential impact styles have on vertical and horizontal communication
Develop strategies for increasing personal leadership effectiveness
